Passengers were left shaken after the bus they were travelling on collided with a car.

One pump from Strood and two from Thameside fire station were called to the accident which happened in Bush Road, Cuxton, at 12.40pm today, Tuesday.

A Renault Scenic is believed to have hit the side of the bus forcing it in to a parked van and blocking the doors of the bus. As a result the majority of passengers on board the single decker bus had to make their way through the fire exit at the back of the bus.

The van was then moved so one male passenger who was complaining of back pain could be taken out of the bus by ambulance crews on a special chair.

The road was blocked while the emergency services dealt with the accident but it was re-opened at about 1.30pm.

It is not yet known which bus operator was involved in the crash.
