She may have been accused of being a man by Kent Police, but Gillingham grandmother Pauline Synnott knows she’s all woman.
Supermarket worker Pauline was left feeling upset when police made an embarrassing error when they mistook her for a man.
She had been caught driving over the speed limit in her partner’s car by a camera and when Kent Police wrote to her partner Roy Watkins, they said the person driving the car when the photo was taken was a man.
Police have now promised to review their procedures after the incident.
Her story was first highlighted in the Medway Messenger in September, so this newspaper, with the help of OHD Salon in Rainham and Bridal Hair and Beauty in Chatham, decided to give Pauline a pampering make-over.
She was given the full treatment at the salon in Station Road and now feels like a new woman.
Pauline, 59, said: “I feel fantastic.
“I was a bit nervous beforehand, but the staff at the salon were brilliant.
“They really did pamper me and even put the massage chair on while I was having my hair done. I felt like a queen. I must say thank you to both the salon and Georgette who did my make-up – they were lovely and I would highly recommend both.”
After her make-over, Roy, 65, took his new-look woman for an evening meal.
Pauline said: “It was nice to have a good experience after something horrible happening. I must thank everyone again who made it possible.
