A man has been flown to hospital with a serious head injury after being hit by a car in Chatham town centre.

Emergency crews were called to Dock Road at 1.15pm.

The man has been taken to King's College Hospital in London.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "He was conscious at the scene and responding well."

The road was closed and traffic jams built up, but delays had cleared by 3.50pm.
