A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision involving a car in Rainham High Street.
The pedestrian was near The Cricketers pub at about 7pm last night when the accident happened.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.
His condition is not thought to be life-threatening,
Police and a team from the road service of the air ambulance attended.
Rich Airey, spokesman for SECAmb (South East Coast Ambulance Service), said the patient suffered a potential head injury and remained conscious throughout. He was taken to hospital for further tests.
Police spokesman Vicki Foster said: "He remains in hospital. The driver of the vehicle is assisting officers and inquiries are ongoing.
"I believe the High Street was closed off at the junction of Station Road while the incident was attended to."
One person said: "Thank you to the ambulance service who came so quickly to the poor man who got run over outside the pub. He didn't look in a great way - I just hope he's OK and the police investigate what actually happened.
"The driver was in a lot of shock and came and sat with us in the pub until we closed. Hope they're both OK."
