A pensioner has been charged with causing the death of long-serving police officer Terry Easterby in a crash.
Father-of-three DS Easterby was off duty when he was killed in a collision in Rainham on February 25.
His Honda motorcycle collided with a Peugeot 306 and a Skoda Fabia at the junction of the A2 London Road and Bloors Lane.
Roland Millington, 76, of Cooling Road, Cliffe, has been charged with causing death by careless driving.
Millington, who was driving the Peugeot, appeared before Medway magistrates on Wednesday. The case has been adjourned until September 30.
DS Easterby, 44, who lived in Rainham, had served with Kent Police since 1986 and worked in Medway since 2003.
DS Easterby left behind his wife Annette, six-year-old twin daughters, and a grown-up daughter from a previous relationship.
A plaque to his memory was put up at Medway police station last month. Colleagues paid tribute to him as an "affable and generous" colleague and a true family man.
An inquest into DS Easterby's death is still due to take place.
