A person has been cut free from a car by firefighters after a three-vehicle crash at a busy roundabout.
Three people have been injured and motorists have been facing delays since the incident shortly after midday on the A229 at Blue Bell Hill.
Two out of three lanes were blocked by the collision between the Taddington and Lord Lees roundabouts.
Fire crews had to use equipment to remove the roof of one of the vehicles involved to rescue a casualty trapped inside.
A spokesman confirmed two fire engines attended and once the patient was released from the vehicle was handed into the care of paramedics.
Camera pictures show the heavy traffic building in the area and drivers are being told to expect delays.
Police spokesman Sally Smith said: "Kent Police was called to 12.13pm on Wednesday July 29 to the A229 Bluebell Hill, Chatham following a report of a road traffic collision.
"Three people are reported to have been injured.
"Officers are currently on the scene."
The ambulance service has been contacted for more information.
