Medway-based petanque players will take part in the 2008 International North Sea Tournament in Copenhagen on Thursday.

The event is taking place between Thursday and Saturday. The annual tournament features nations which border the North Sea.

The English squad consists of a number of Kent and Medway based players, including Kris Smith of Chatham’s Plough & Chequers and Matt Shrimpton. Juniors taking part in the event include Gary Atkinson of The George Club, Meopham and Alex Bruce of Ramsgate’s Vale Tavern Club.

Coaches include Medway’s Plough & Chequers Corrine Cooter along with Martin Eggleton and Trevor Glenn, who are both members of Meopham’s George Club.
