Plans have been submitted to open a pizza and fried chicken shop in a high street.
A change of use application has been put forward to turn an old newsagents in Luton High Street, Chatham, into a takeaway.
The site, which used to be a Martin’s, has been vacant for five years and, if the plans are approved, a number of renovation and maintenance works would need to take place.
Applicant Zeynep Olmez states the shop would be open from 11am to 11pm between Monday and Saturday, and from 12pm to 10pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
The design and access statement says: “To comply with food hygiene the owners will engage with local Environmental Health Officers for ongoing assessments and best practices.
“The staff will wear gloves to ensure safe transmission of food from kitchen to customers.”
It adds the hot food being served would be made using “fresh and healthy ingredients”.

No seating would be available at the shop.
The first floor of the building will remain a single flat and will not be impacted by the plans.
It is claimed the takeaway would “deliver significant benefits, including revitalizing a long-term vacant unit, creating jobs, and enhancing the local area”.
The plans add: “There is clear local demand for a high-quality hot food takeaway offering pizza and fried chicken.”
