Hoo and Chattenden Parish Council partnered with playground equipment suppliers Kompan to construct a pirate and fort-themed area in Fourwents Road.

It includes pirate ship and fort-inspired climbing frames, swing sets, a roundabout and a slide.

Chairman of the parish council, Cllr Ron Sands, said: “The park, although it was still being used by the children, was in bad repair.

“The new one is a fantastic asset and I am glad the young people love it and the parents too who have been having picnics.

“It has been brilliantly well used already. It is good for the community and our thriving village.”

The six-week project cost the parish council £150,000, however, was funded by section 106 payments from developers.
