Police are appealing for witnesses after a man tried to rip off an elderly woman's necklace.
On Sunday, October 21 at around 3pm a man who approached the 70 year old woman on a path behind St Nicholas Church near Strood High Street.
He attempted to steal a gold necklace she was wearing but failed and then ran across a green near the church and towards High Street Strood.
The alleged mugger has been described as white, aged approximately 18 years old, slim build and wearing blue/grey clothing and a blue baseball cap which had red underneath the peak.
He is believed to have run towards two men he knew, who are described as white, aged 22 to 23 years old, white, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, blonde hair and wearing jeans and a t-shirt and carrying a light blue ‘for life’ shopping bag.
A third person also believed to be known to the suspect, has been described as Asian or mixed race, aged 23-25 years old and with an unshaven appearance.
After the incident the men are reported to have ran off across the car park under the railway bridge and onto Gun Lane, Strood.
