Police cordon off alley opposite Gillingham Railway Station after reported stabbing

A man remains seriously injured in hospital after he was stabbed in an alleyway last night.

The alley leading to Balmoral gardens, opposite Gillingham Railway Station, was closed by police just before 3pm following reports of an assault.

Police are continuing their inquires but the alleyway has been reopened.

A local business contacted by KentOnline suggested staff had witnessed the attack.

The victim is at a local hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A police cordon was in place from the pavement opposite Gillingham Railway Station and the footpath leading to Balmoral Gardens last night.

A Southeastern spokesman said the railway station was not affected by the cordon.
