A police helicopter joined a seven-hour search for a pensioner reported missing in Gillingham.

The chopper was spotted hovering over the town in the early hours as officers looked for a 71-year-old man reported missing at 8.40pm after going for a walk.

He was found at about 3.30am.

A spokesman for police said this morning: "A man reported missing from Gillingham has been found safe and well."
