Drivers faced heavy delays after a police incident on the M2 this evening.
Traffic on the M2 was held in both directions between Junction 4 (Gillingham) and Junction 5 (Sittingbourne).
Police were called at around 7pm (May 30) to reports a person was on the motorway.
A spokesman for the force said: “Kent Police was called at around 7pm on Thursday to reports of a pedestrian crossing the carriageways of the M2 between Junctions 4 and 5.
“Officers attended the scene where it is understood the person was collected by a vehicle.”
The stretch has since reopened, although delays continued for a short time afterwards.
Fire crews and paramedics were also sent to the scene.
A spokeswoman for South East Coast Ambulance (SECAmb) said: “We were called shortly after 7pm yesterday evening to reports of a person in need of medical attention on the M2 between Junctions 4 and 5.
“However, we were stood down shortly after arrival.”
Meanwhile, inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
