Detectives have released CCTV images after two elderly women were tricked into letting a man into their homes.
The man pictured is thought to have turned up at Kingsdale Court in Chatham, last month, and tricked two elderly women into letting him in.
The first incident happened on Saturday, February 25, when an 89-year-old pensioner reported a man knocked and entered her flat, saying he was looking for his grandmother.
He offered to check the woman’s water whilst he was there, claiming there had been issues with black water.
The victim checked the taps in her bathroom and then left.
A short while later, she discovered her handbag, containing a purse, a small amount of cash, a pair of glasses and keys, were missing.
Police and crime scene investigators attended the scene and enquires into this burglary are ongoing.
A second incident is said to have happened on Tuesday, February 28.
A 79-year-old woman has told officers the man rang her doorbell and told her he was there to check her water as problems had been reported.
He went in to a number of rooms within her flat and left shortly after, when she told him she had to go out, but none of her possessions was taken.
DC Aaron Chapman said: "I would urge all householders not to let strangers into their homes or gardens, however plausible the excuse.
"We have heard very many different excuses used by burglars including asking for a drink of water, to use the toilet or claiming they have spotted a problem with a property.
"Genuine callers will usually make an appointment."
Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact police on 101, if possible quoting reference XY/5903/12 or alternatively, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
