Climate change protestors could be setting up a mass camp near a power station.
It was rumoured that the environmental group Reclaim The Power would be setting up a protest on the Hoo Peninsular.
The camp has since been set up near Rye House Gas Power Station, in Harlow, Essex.
However, there will be a police presence on the peninsular over the next few days in case of a change in plans.
Chief Superintendent Claire Nix head of Tactical Operation at Kent Police said: “Police were notified of potential plans for a protest camp on the Hoo Peninsular between Friday, July 26 and Wednesday, July 31 and has worked with partner agencies and local residents to keep them informed should the camp go ahead.
“Current information suggests the camp has been based elsewhere in the country but officers will continue to monitor the situation and review intelligence to minimise any potential disruption to local residents and businesses.”
In 2008 the site was taken over by around 1,000 people in a mass camp who were protesting against coal burning at Kingsnorth Power Station.
Last June marked the event's 10th anniversary.
