Medway police are to be the catwalk stars for a new line of patrol shirts.
Should the new polo style wear prove a hit with officers and the public they will be become part of the official uniform for the Kent wide force.
The trial, which begins on Monday has been introduced after feedback from officers.
They asked Kent Police to consider an alternative uniform to the traditional white shirt and clip on tie.
Many officers feel that with the introduction of body armour and other equipment, more practical shirts were needed.
The black zip up tops (blue for PCSOs) will be worn by officers on the beat and are made from breathable lightweight fabrics.
The trial is planned to last for three-months with Medway residents getting a say on its future.
Chief Supt Jan Stephens, said:"The safety and comfort of our officers is paramount and the force is keen to ensure they are properly equipped to carry out their duties.
"This trial is a result of listening to the needs of police officers and ensuring that our uniforms keep pace with the changing role of professional policing duties.
"After the three months we will run a thorough evaluation of the shirts which will take into account the thoughts of the officer and also the opinions of the public.
"I would urge anyone who has a view on the proposed uniform to let us know what they think, as their views are important to us.
"Medway is a pioneering area with a state-of-the-art police station and we embrace new ideas and technology.
"By piloting schemes like this we can be even more effective and make Medway an even safer place to live."
