Car stolen from Star Mill Lane, Chatham, spotted in Longfield

Police are asking for dash cam footage after an elderly man was beaten up, left covered in blood and his car was stolen.

The robbery happened in Star Mill Lane, Chatham, at around 3.20pm on Tuesday, July 2.

Two men forced entry into a home and repeatedly punched an elderly man in the face, leaving him covered in blood on his doorstep.

He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.

The thieves stole his car keys and drove away in his black Mercedes.

Police received reports of the car being "poorly driven" in the New Barn Road area of Longfield.

Investigating officers are keen to see dash cam footage from any drivers who were in the area at around 4.30pm yesterday.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the victim and his wife.

The post on the page says "As a community we feel it’s important to support the couple who have been victims of this awful crime."
