One of Medway's most popular swimming pools has been out of action for days after problems with heating and hot water.
All the pools at Medway Park, Gillingham, were closed last Thursday for maintenance. That was only meant to last for 12 hours from 6am.
But that evening, Medway Sport – Medway Council's sports development team and sports centres – said that work had not been completed "so pools will remain closed until further notice".
The next day, it was discovered the extent of the problem meant work was likely to take days rather than hours.
A statement to customers said: "The engineers will continue to work on the problems, which consist of no heating or hot water available across the centre. We sincerely apologise for this lack of service."
It had been hoped to let swimmers back in by yesterday (Tuesday), but the pools won't be up and running now until Friday.
A statement from Medway Sport said: "It is with regret that we have to report that the swimming pools at Medway Park will now not be re-open until Friday this week.
"The ongoing technical issues of no heating or hot water onsite require further works, before being able to heat pools and pool air temperature.
"Again please accept our sincere apologies for this unforeseen issue during the Easter holidays. We hope you are able to travel to Strood and Hoo pools for your swimming experiences."
Medway Park has a 25-metre six-lane swimming pool, a segregated shallow section, a warm water teaching pool and a diving pool.
You can find details about Strood pool here and Hoo pool here.
In better news, the new-look gym at the Gillingham venue was due to re-open at 6.30am today.
