A new bargain shop is opening on the high street this month.
Poundstretcher will be holding a grand opening at its new store in Gillingham on Wednesday, August 30.
It is replacing the former WHSmith, which closed in January last year, and will have mayor Nina Gurung cutting the ribbon to open the budget-shop.
It is part of a number of new shops opening across the UK – with the Medway Towns site the 17th shop to open this year.
Poundstretcher are looking to recruit a number of staff in both part-time and full-time roles.
People who came down at 10am will be met by a local entertainer running games and activities with the £250 worth of shopping vouchers up for grabs.
At 9:30am the store will be running a charity trolley dash for the benefit of Medway Foodbank, where they will be given the opportunity to fill their trolley with as many products as possible within 60 seconds.
Property director Gerry Loughran said: “We are pleased to be re-opening a brand new store for the people of Gillingham to access our wide range of offers and products.
“The team is working hard to deliver an outstanding shopping experience, great service, and an enjoyable shopping environment for all our old and new customers.
“We are expecting massive queues for our opening day specials, including an action-packed morning, so come early to not miss out.”
