Power cuts have been causing problems across parts of Medway today.

A problem was reported at 11.44am, affecting some of Rochester including Watts Avenue, Maidstone Road, the High Street and out to New Road, and Strood, including the Medway City Estate, and out to Wainscott, Hoo and surrounding areas.

UK Power Networks said on its website 10 postcode areas were affected.

Company spokesman Niamh Arnett said: "Engineers worked as quickly as possible to restore supplies to 232 customers in Strood after a fault on the underground network at 11.44am. All supplies were restored by 12.23pm. We apologise for the inconvenience caused."

There was also a power cut in and around High Halstow between midday and 1.40pm so engineers could safely carry out emergency repairs to the network.
