A primary school bursar and her husband have been arrested by police investigating the alleged disappearance of £120,000.

Sandra Ross, 62, and 61-year-old Peter were questioned by detectives in connection with a fraud probe at Temple Mill Primary School, in Strood.

The couple were arrested at the end of April and have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Mrs Ross, pictured above, has been a business manager at the school, in Cliffe Road, for six years.

Medway Council has confirmed she has not been working at the school since her arrest.

Detectives are believed to be investigating allegations that around £120,000 has gone missing from the school.

A Medway Police spokesman said that two people, a man aged 61, and a woman, aged 62, both from Meopham, had been arrested in relation to alleged fraud offences.

She said: "They have since been bailed pending further inquiries."

The couple are to are expected to return to the police station on Thursday, June 2.

A Medway Council spokesman said: "We can confirm that this person no longer works for the school.

"Due to the fact there is an ongoing police investigation, we are unable to comment any further."

It is understood school staff were told to sign gagging orders by personnel workers from the council's HR team before the weekend.

They have been told they face losing their jobs if they speak to the press.
