Boxing promoter Frank Maloney has urged the Medway public to get behind next week’s boxing show in Gillingham.

Maloney wants to make Medway Park a regular venue for hosting top-ranked fighters and the British light middleweight title contest between Sam Webb and Prince Aaron next Friday could be the first big fight of many.

"It’s an opportunity to bring big time boxing to Medway and people need to support it," said Maloney, who promotes many of Britain’s top boxers.

"It’s a major show and it’s important that the public show that they want big time boxing in Medway."

Among the names in Maloney’s FTM stable is Chatham’s unbeaten heavyweight Tom Dallas, (pictured) who faces an eight-round contest against American Zack Page.

Dallas has won all 14 of his fights and, in his last bout, in March, he dumped opponent Gabor Farkas to the canvas inside three rounds.

Dallas topped the bill that night but must play second-fiddle on home turf to Chislehurst’s Webb.

Maloney said: "Sam Webb is one of the most under-rated light middleweight champions in the country.

"I think he will go a long way and will be fighting for European titles before long. If we get a good response from this show then that is something that could be brought to Medway.

Unbeaten Swanley boxer Martin Welsh will be out to win the English light middleweight crown as he faces Blackpool’s Brian Rose.

The third title fight on the card sees Akaash Bhatia take on Ben Jones for the English super featherweight crown.

Other fights will feature Dillian Whyte, a former Thai boxing champion, Erith’s Lewis Pettitt and Crayford’s light heavyweight showman Menay Edwards.
