Promoter Mark Roe is facing a race against time to get approval for his outdoor boxing show - where Medway's Tom Dallas is due to top the bill - at Lordswood Football Club at the end of next month.

Roe is attempting to stage the Men of Kent show at the Lordswood sports complex and was due to lodge his application for a licence with Medway Council this week.

It’s a lengthy process and Roe, who had originally wanted the event to take place last weekend, admits he’s already looking at other options.

He said: "This not a speedy process. I can’t get anything sorted yet because I don’t want to spend money again for them (the council) to turn around and say no."

Roe is hoping more than 1,500 boxing fans will attend to see Chatham heavyweight Dallas, pictured, alongside a host of other Kent fighters. Should the council reject the application, or if it stalls, Roe has already looked at alternatives.

Amadeus Night Club in Strood or the Casino Rooms in Rochester High Street should be more straightforward as they both already stage kickboxing events.

Medway Park, formerly the Black Lion, is also an option depending on restrictions on crowd capacity.

Roe added: "If we can’t get the Lordswood show on, we’ll look at those others in detail. We’ve got options."
