A young pup left in “terrible pain” after being abandoned with two broken thighs is going to need thousands spent on her medical care.
Tanzi, now in the care of New Hope Animal Rescue, was taken to KareBear Kennels in Lidsing after being found alone and unable to walk.
The little dog reportedly had bruising on her stomach as well as fractures on two femurs.
A spokesman for the kennels said: “She was in a lot of pain and couldn’t walk on her back legs.
“She was so cute and loving and really didn’t show exactly how much pain she was in bless her.
“We managed to get her a place with New Hope and she is one very lucky girl to now be able to have a chance after such a rubbish start to life.
“Unfortunately, both her legs are broken, she had a lot of bruising on her tummy and didn’t show any signs of being a car accident.”
Now at the animal rescue centre, Tanzi is awaiting surgery.
A spokesman for the charity said: “She is such a sweet little girl in such terrible pain.
“We don’t know if this was an RTA or if someone has caused these injuries to her but either way she has been abandoned in this terrible condition.
“She needed someone to act immediately and of course, we had to help, but two complicated fracture repairs are going to cost us a lot of money and we are already £9,000 in debt to the vets she is in.
“We pay our vet bills regularly but our little grassroots rescue is continually stepping up and doing more to keep up with the number of animals in need, but we keep stretching our finances to the limit.”
Many of the volunteers at the charity have full-time jobs on top of the rescue work and often personally cover as many of the expenses as they can.
However, the spokesman did warn that they can’t always help without donations from its supporters.
The spokesman added: “Of course, we follow our hearts and not our heads with animals in need, get a dog safe and sorted and panic about the money later, but we need to fundraise for Tanzi and our existing bills.
“We know times are extremely tough, but please, if anyone is in the position to donate to keep the essential work of the rescue going, then now is the time.”
