A teacher has been banned from the profession after asking a student if they "wanted to make babies”.

Frank de Groot also admitted throwing a board marker at another pupil and swore in front of children at Rainham Mark Grammar School.

The General Teaching Council for England (GTCE) has found his actions constituted "unacceptable professional conduct".

Mr de Groot - who did not attend the hearing - was given a prohibition order, which means his name has been removed from the teaching register.

He will be able to apply to be reinstated to the teaching register after two years.

The panel heard how Mr de Groot made inappropriate comments to a Year 10 pupil in January 2007, including words to the effect of “do you want to make babies?”

Although he denied this, the GTCE decided the allegation was credible and constituted an action which was demeaning to a pupil of school age in his care.

A further three charges were all admitted by Mr de Groot during an investigation by the school, in Pump Lane, Rainham.

A Medway Council spokesman said: “We absolutely abhor this type of behaviour and can confirm this teacher was dismissed by the school’s governing body.

“We are committed to ensuring that every child gets the best possible education and is free from any kind of physical or verbal intimidation.

“We fully support the General Teaching Council’s decision to make a prohibition order in this case.”
