A resident was given oxygen after their home filled with smoke following a kitchen fire.

Crews were called to Church Road in West Kingsdown at 2.18am where they found a property heavily logged with smoke.

They entered the house to lead the person to safety before using breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

The occupant was left with family members after being checked over by the firefighters.

It has not yet been revealed whether the resident was a man or woman.
