Three fire engines were sent to the scene at around midnight.

Since then, crews have spent hours extinguishing the flames.

At 6am, two fire engines and a telehandler remained and were said to be making “good progress”.

People were advised to close windows and doors due to the smoke and share the warning with others who may not have access to the internet.

A fire spokesman confirmed crews had left the area by 9.30am.

They added that there were no reported injuries and it is being treated as suspicious.

The news comes after another haystack burned for three days in Cobham, near Gravesend.

Crews managed to put out the fire yesterday, however, the cause is not yet known.
