A woman whose body was found in the River Medway has been named as 56-year-old Karen Griffin.

A fisherman on board a boat was the first to spot Ms Griffin’s body in the river near the Command House in Chatham, but it was eventually recovered by coastguards at Chatham Maritime Marina on the morning of Sunday, November 8.

It is thought the woman, from Sidney Road, Rochester, was in the water for less than 24 hours.

An initial post mortem gave a cause of death as drowning.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
