A person has been rescued from the River Medway after a huge response from emergency services.
The alarm was raised just after 9.30am today, when someone was spotted in the water close to Rochester Bridge.
The Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was seen hovering above the river, scouring the stretch from Borstal, Wouldham and Snodland.
The Sheerness RNLI lifeboat team were also called to help, along with the Medway Coastguard rescue team, police, paramedics and fire crews.
A large number of emergency vehicles were spotted in the Esplanade in Rochester as the rescue was carried out.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "The casualty was located and recovered by the fire service and passed into the care of the ambulance service."
