A search to find a missing man along the River Medway continues.

Officers are appealing for information to trace Gary Stapley who was last known to have been in the Lower Higham Road area of Gravesend on Wednesday afternoon.

A police helicopter was seen over the River Medway

The 46-year-old is from the High Halstow area of the Hoo Peninsula and is believed to have since travelled to Rochester.

Police searched along the Borstal and Cuxton stretches of the Medway River yesterday as a helicopter was seen circulating the area from above.

A resident living in the Medway Bridge Marina said there had been lots of activity at the rowing club where search boats had been sent from.

They said: "I have only heard that someone possibly jumped off the bridge in the early hours this morning."

Officers are now appealing for information from the public to locate Mr Stapley.
