A date has been set for another by-election in Medway's River ward.

Conservative David Craggs, also a head teacher and pictured right, resigned from the post in August just days after being elected.

His shock exit has prompted a flurry of allegations denied by Kent Police that he was bullied into choosing between his work as a special constable and his political aspirations.

Now Medway Council has announced today (Thursday) another by-election will be held on Thursday, October 21.

Candidates have until Friday, September 24 to delcare they wish to stand.

However, the Conservatives have already picked Andrew Mackness - a 47-year-old caterer - as their contender.
