There were said to be delays in the area due to the repairs between Friary Place and St Mary's Road.

Medway Council advised motorists to find alternative routes.

Network Rail confirmed the works were planned maintenance for vegetation removal and associated brickwork repairs which it undertakes on all of its masonry structures.

The route was also closed yesterday (Tuesday) but had opened by 3pm.

The works have now been completed.
