Police on scene at City Way, Rochester after man knocked down

An elderly man has been airlifted to hospital with head injuries and fractured ribs after being knocked down by a car.

The accident happened in City Way, Rochester, earlier this afternoon.

His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The air ambulance landed at nearby Friston Field.

Kent Police confirmed officers were called just before 2pm on Saturday and that the incident involved a car and a pedestrian. The car stopped and remained on the scene.

The road was closed for an hour between Beatty Avenue and Cloisterham Road to allow medical teams to treat the man.

All roads have since reopened and the man has been taken to a London hospital for further treatment.
