Gillingham tickets for their Wembley play-off match go on general sale tomorrow and chairman Paul Scally will be giving the call centre staff a helping hand.
The Gills’ club sponsors KRBS have lent them the use of their call centre in Bangalore, India to use as a base for the Wembley ticket hotline.
Season ticket holders have from 10am today until 3pm on Saturday to claim their seats for the May 23 League 2 play-off match and from then on tickets will be on sale to all.
“I’ll be there to make sure things run smoothly and I’ll be taking calls as well,” said Mr Scally.
“I’ll do an hour on the phones. I’m looking forward to it and it will be interesting to see how the sales go.”
KRBS have given Gillingham the use of 30 telephone operatives in a bid to help the club sell their 38,000 allotted tickets smoothly.
“We sold 52,000 in three days last time without half of the facilities we have now,” said Mr Scally. “What I don’t want is fans complaining that they didn’t get a fair crack at the whip.”
The club have been doing a brisk trade in their club shop and it’s been keeping everyone busy.
Mr Scally said: “It’s been flat out and very stressful and there has been a lot of planning and organising and making sure the ticketing system works right. It’s a problem we would like to have every season.”
Tickets remain on sale for season ticket holders from today (Friday) until 8pm and the ticket office at the club is open again on Saturday between 10am-3pm.
They are available on general sale from the ground on Saturday (3pm-8pm) and Sunday (10am-8pm) and during the week between the hours of 10am-8pm.
Tickets are priced at £26, £36 and £46 and concessions are also available.
Gillingham have an allocation of 38,000 seats and an additional 3,300 Club Wembley seats priced at £56. The hotline number is 08451 220777.
