PAUL SCALLY: "There is light at the end of the tunnel"

GILLINGHAM chairman Paul Scally is looking ahead to a bright future inside a brand new stadium, despite debts increasing to over £10million.

Mr Scally was speaking during the club’s annual meeting at Priestfield on Tuesday night and outlined his vision for the future.

He said: "There is light at the end of the tunnel despite the fact it’s been an extremely difficult 18 months to two years.

"The bank have given us their full support on an on-going basis. We’re at the very tail-end of a long negotiation. They’re very pleased with us and the future is bright."

Mr Scally admitted the debt currently stood at £10.3million but was pressing ahead with plans for a new stadium, with Medway looking the most likely site for the new development.

"We have two sites outside Medway," said Mr Scally. "We do have a possible site in Medway which is the one I’m probably spending most of my efforts on.

"I hope that within the nest six to nine months, I’m able to talk publicly and openly about exactly where we are."
