A SCHOOL has defended its effors to tackle bullying after video footage emerged of a pupil being stamped on by classmates.
The mobile phone images of an alleged incident at Howard School, Rainham, was passed by the victim’s parents to a national newspaper.
“When I saw this video I thought something has to be done. The school knew my son was vulnerable but did nothing,” the parent told The Sun.
School chiefs say the video is old footage, although the date it was shot has not been disclosed.
They also insist steps have been taken to improve pupil behaviour, including anti-bullying patrols during breaktime.
A Medway Council, spokesman, said: “We have checked with the headteacher and we are confident this is out of date footage.
“Importantly bullying is not tolerated in Medway’s schools.
“As a new headteacher Paul Morris has made sure there are procedures in place to tackle bullying. Teachers are available for pupils to speak with at any time if there is a problem.
“Additionally the head is working with Medway Council to make sure all policies are up to date.”
