Generous schools have been donating their spare equipment to help health workers battling the coronavirus.
Greenacre Academy in Walderslade handed over disposable gloves and safety glasses from its design and technology department to Medway Maritime Hospital.
But staff went the extra mile to make some visors which could also be used.
The school's assistant head teacher Kathryn Pamphlett, who is a design and technology teacher, got in touch with the hospital in Gillingham to ask about the specifications they required.
She set about making the visors with two other staff members and made the first batch of 45, which were donated yesterday.
She said: "We donated safety specs and anything else we had that they might need just so they have got that additional PPE equipment because we wanted to support as best we could.
"We are potentially going to make some more. From a design and technology point of view, we wanted to make sure they were fit for purpose before making more."
Since posting about their work online, a carers' group and a community respiratory team, both based in Medway, have also put in requests for the school's homemade visors.
Cherubs Montessori Day Nursery in Strood also donated aprons and gloves to the hospital.
The nursery closed due to flooding at the beginning of this year but staff still had stock they could pass on.
Tracey Vick, from the nursery, said: "We are very much community spirited and although we are closed, we wanted to help in any way we could.
"Therefore, when it was brought to our attention that Medway hospital was short on PPE, we went through our stock cupboard to see what we could donate."
