A primary school has been told it deserves an “outstanding” rating during a recent visit by Ofsted inspectors.
Walderslade Primary School in Dargets Road, Chatham welcomed education regulators for an ”ungraded mid-point inspection” and were told if the inspection had been official, it would have got the top score.
Already graded “good” in all areas, the primary was branded a “happy” and “joyful” school in its latest Ofsted report.
Pupils and teachers were recognised positively by inspectors who said learners “behave exceptionally well in class”, “listen attentively” and demonstrate “focus” and “heartfelt care for one another”.
Teachers were highlighted as providing “highly-effective support for children with special educational needs and disabilities”.
Head teacher Amy Rowley-Jones said: “I am absolutely delighted and incredibly proud that the hard work and efforts of the staff, children and wider community of Walderslade Primary have been reflected in this excellent report by Ofsted.
“This report is a testament to the outstanding attitudes, relentless hard work, care and nurture and high expectations from everyone involved at our school.
“Our children have a love of learning and desire to achieve highly, and I am so proud of all of them. We may be small, but we are mighty.”
Tina Lovey, chief executive of the Rivermead Inclusive Trust, said: “We are so proud to have Walderslade Primary School as part of the Rivermead Inclusive Trust.
“Our wonderful school in the heart of the community is highly ambitious for all pupils.
“Our outstanding leaders and governors, together with highly passionate and committed staff, give all pupils the very best experience of school life; academically, holistically and therapeutically.
“This joyous school looks forward to a return visit from Ofsted in 12 to 18 months for a graded inspection to solidify what we know already to be an outstanding school.”
