Video: Dickens' Christmas
Carol is brought to life
by Chris Price
With a petrified look on his face, Ebenezer Scrooge looks at his
own grave and cries, “I want to sponge away this name. I want to
live! I want to live!”
But this isn’t Albert Finney, Michael Caine or any of the other
Hollywood greats who have bellowed out Dickens’ famous lines over
the years.. it’s Rochester’s Tony Bates.
Tony is part of a production of A Christmas Carol that’s forming
the centrepiece to the festive celebrations at Dickens World – the
£62m attraction that opened in Chatham Maritime in May 2007.
The event is tied in with this weekend’s release of Disney’s new
3D animated version of Dickens’ classic tale which stars Jim
Carrey, Colin Firth and Bob Hoskins.
Every day from Saturday, November 14 until Sunday, January 3,
cinema-goers who see the film at the Odeon in Chatham Maritime will
get half price next door at Dickens World, where they can watch the
live courtyard productions, visit Father Christmas for free, enjoy
carols and see all the park’s regular attractions.
