Firms are being reminded that the time has come to enter the 2017 Medway Business Awards, which is in its 33rd year.
The awards have celebrated the achievements of many brilliant enterprises and their hard-working staff.
They also reflect the importance of Medway as a great place to do business.
In 2016, honours went to AC Goatham & Son (Flanders Farm), St Mary Hoo, a fruit grower that supplies one in every 4.5 apples sold in the UK.
The family-run firm was named Medway Business of the Year at Priestfield, Gillingham.
Other awards went to Digital Contact, Rochester; AM1 Projects, Chatham; Food Machinery Company, St Mary Hoo; Aeromet, Rochester; and BB7, Rochester.
They all won trophies, with a £1,000 cash prize going to AC Goatham, which the firm promptly donated to the Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Unit at Medway Maritime Hospital.
All finalists were honoured with a framed certificate, and enjoyed the chance to thank staff and clients, and meet other Medway businesses and award sponsors.
The awards are sponsored by some big name organisations, including long-term sponsor Medway Council.
Susan Jennings, partner and head of corporate at Furley Page Solicitors – a long-time sponsor based in the Historic Dockyard Chatham – chairs the judging panel.
She said: “The process is simple and makes business owners take stock of what is great about their business and staff.
“It’s a great opportunity to involve staff in the process and vie for recognition for what makes them stand out from their competitors.
“Medway has some great businesses and lots of talent. I would encourage all businesses in Medway that meet the criteria to enter.”
Sylvia Meade, chairman of the awards organising group, said: “We are looking for more great businesses to celebrate in 2017.
“Don’t hide your achievements. An entry in these awards gives you the opportunity to impress potential clients and win more business. Go for it!”
