Do you know the young mystery hero who saved a girl in a dramatic rescue?
Witness David Morris described how he first heard a desperate mum's screams, after a girl aged around four or five lost control of her bike on the slope at Churchfields, beside The Esplanade in Rochester.
With the girl's bike picking up speed downhill, it looked like she was heading for disaster – until a boy aged around eight or nine stepped into the bike's path and dragged her off it.
Following the incident last Friday, August 5, Mr Morris took to Facebook to say the youngster deserved credit for his actions, and many others agreed, prompting hopes the young hero could be tracked down.
He recalled: "As I drove past the steep embankment, on the Esplanade there was a little girl who lost control of her balance bike and was heading for disaster, travelling uncontrollably for the road, she was quite high up and was at speed.
"Her mum was trying to catch her but the bike was too fast, I could hear the mum’s desperate screams from the car.
"Then, a little boy of about eight or nine saw the problem and acted, in my opinion, heroically, by putting himself in the way of the bike and pulling the little girl off it.
"If he was my son, I would be extremely proud of his instinctive actions. He saved the little girl from serious injury or even worse.
"His actions need to be recognised and it would be good if, by the power of Facebook, we could find him. Well done young man."
Others commenting on Facebook also praised the boy for his quick thoughts and actions.
"Well done young man," said one. "I hope he gets the recognition he deserves. His heroic fast thinking stopped what could have been a tragedy."
One commentator replied: "Amazing for a young person to have such presence of mind and act instinctively like that. His parents should be so proud. That's one very lucky little girl."
And another added: "Not all heroes wear capes. Brilliant."
