Firefighters believe a shed fire which threatened to spread nearby homes was started deliberately.

Crews were called to Heathfield Close, Chatham, at about 3.10pm today (Monday) and arrived to find two sheds well alight.

Both sheds were destroyed and the windows of two homes were damaged, but crews prevented the blaze from spreading to the properties.

A woman aged in her 30s was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, and a family have been temporarily re-homed.

Watch manager Jim Ramsden said police had been informed.
