Motorists will face an eight mile diversion when overnight maintenance works begin.
The Medway Tunnel will be closed from Monday until Saturday, December 10.
It will be shut from 8pm each evening and will reopen at 5.45am the following day.
The closure is to allow for quarterly maintenance to be completed by the council.
There will be an eight mile diversion route in place which will add around 20 minutes to drivers' journey time.
It will take motorists along Pier Road A289, onto the A228 through Strood, onto the A2 at the Rochester Bridge, through Chatham onto Dock Road A231 and then onto Maritime Way.
The diversion also applies in the opposite direction.
