Six applications have been made for royal wedding street parties in Medway, it has been revealed.
Requests for road closures so neighbours can celebrate the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton are now being considered.
Medway Council said it has had two street party requests in Strood, one in Chatham, one in Rochester, one in Brompton and another in Gillingham.
They will be assessed this week and could start getting approved from next week.
Street party applications had to be submitted by Monday after the deadline was extended by 10 days after a late rush of enquiries.
Medway Council also decided road closures can stay in place until 9pm on Friday, April 29.
It had come in for criticism from some residents, who said the application process for street parties was too complicated.
But a spokesman said it was helping to cut costs by providing signs and cones free of charge, as well as reimbursing "reasonable costs" to cover public liability insurance. She insisted arrangements were needed so the correct signs are used, safety was checked and there were alternative routes for traffic.
There is now just a month before Prince William and Kate Middleton (pictured above) tie the knot at Westminster Abbey on Friday, April 29.
