You can enter into the spirit of the Olympic Games by taking part in a very special event – right here in Medway.
The Towns are hosting this year’s Westfield Health British Transplant Games.
Although the Games are open only to those having recovered from an organ transplant, the Donor Run is open to everyone.
More than 200 people have already signed up to take part.
The event will be raising money charity, which works to increase the number of people on the Organ Donor Register and raise awareness of the benefits a transplant can have.
Only one in three people in the UK is registered to donate their organs, while 96% of people would accept an organ if they needed one.
The Donor Run will be held at the Great Lines Heritage Park in Gillingham on August 25, covering distances of 3k and 5k.
The Games itself runs from August 23 to 26. Transplant recipients and their families from across the country will come to the Towns to take part in a variety of events at Medway Park.
Athletes aged from two to 80 will compete for medals in athletics, badminton, swimming and more.
