A number of centres in the Towns have closed as a result.

Medway Sport has confirmed it will be freezing members' payments with immediate effect at no extra cost and no more money will be taken from their account while centres are closed.

People affected will also get a 10-day credit on their account when everything is reopened and any annual memberships will be extended.

Any swimming lesson customers will be credited on their account for any missed lessons and existing customers will get priority re-enrolment for a new term of lessons.

Customers who had a party booked at one of the centres will get a full refund, according to Medway Sport, and clubs with block bookings which have paid in advance will have the cost of this discounted when sessions are resumed.

Medway Adult Education, which offers a range of courses for people to learn, has had to cancel all classroom-based courses until the end of June.

The organisation, based at the Community Hub in Eastgate, Rochester, has asked customers not to ring asking about refunds while it makes changes.

It has said it is in the process of developing online-learning for some courses and "hope to have more information in the next couple of weeks".

Customers are advised to keep an eye on Medway Adult Education social media pages for more information.
