Two teenagers excelling in sport are to benefit from new funding.
The Kent Trust for Youth Sport provides sponsorship to young athletes, which helps them afford a lifestyle competing at a national and international level.
Of the five to be chosen for funding across the county, one was Peter Buravytskiy, from Gillingham, who turns 14 tomorrow (Tuesday), who has been granted support for the next three years.
The trampoline gymnast is a member of the Great Britain high performance junior squad and last year became the men’s elite South East regional champion.
Dave Wooder, from Chatham, has a one-off sum of £500 to help his motorsport career.
The 15-year-old said: “I started karting from the bottom, going to local club meetings in the van and competing with old equipment. I then entered for higher competitions.”
He holds the World Vice Champion and European International Open Champion titles, among many others.
The money will help to buy equipment, kit, and travel to and from competitions.
Simon Philip, chairman of the trust said: “There is a wealth of talent among the young people of Kent and it is the objective of our charity to support them.
“The trustees have been amazed to see such a breadth of sports represented through the numerous applications we receive. It is a tough application process.”
