Firefighters were called to help rescue a squirrel which had been stuck up a telegraph pole for two days.
A crew from Chatham was enlisted by an RSPCA officer to help the small rodent which had been stranded on the pole in Afghan Road, and seemed unable to get back down.
The animal-loving crew arrived at 10.15am and pitched their ladder up to the pole.
However, as they did so the tiny creature decided to leap safely onto vegetation on the ground.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said: “As we pitched our ladder up, the animal decided it would do an amazing leap and jump off the pole.
“It landed in some vegetation and was fine and then ran along the garden fences happily back to where it came from.”
