Block of seven stables in Capstone Road, Chatham destroyed in suspicious fire

A blaze which destroyed a stable block in Chatham is being treated as arson by police investigating the incident.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in Capstone Road at 12.20am and two fire engines from Medway station attended the scene.

A firefighter from the station said that six out of seven of the stables were burnt down and it was the cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 12.35am to a stable in Capstone Road, Chatham, following a report of a fire.

"The fire is being treated as arson at the moment and enquiries are ongoing."
