A thankful parent has named a star after her child’s school for supporting her and others during the coronavirus pandemic.
Jane Ashley’s children have been to or are currently at Greenacre Academy, Walderslade Road, Chatham.
The mother-of-four has praised the school for helping struggling parents through the virus outbreak.
This is by allowing her school-aged children to continue learning through online learning.
She said: “I wanted to give the school something memorable and special to say a ‘big thank’ you for what they have done for my children and I thought of naming a star after Greenacre Academy.
“I didn’t want to give them just a few boxes of chocolates for the staffroom.
“All of the teachers have gone above and beyond during coronavirus and with the kids being off school.
“We were overwhelmed to get such an amazingly warm and thoughtful gift..."
“I don’t want to single out any specific teacher but they’ve all ensured that my son’s education has continued.
“We’ve even had a call from a teacher every week to ask how the family is doing, not only about their pupil.”
They registered the star at staracle.com at a cost of £5, with other options available up to £20.
Head teacher Shelly Bridger said: “We were overwhelmed to get such an amazingly warm and thoughtful gift from Mrs Ashley and it’s something that everyone at Greenacre can be proud of and share.
“Our teachers have been truly exceptional during this terrible crisis, which created challenges way beyond what we were used to dealing with at the school.
“I absolutely love the idea that Greenacre Academy is shining brightly in the sky as well as down here on earth.”
